PFL 2020: Azkals d. Maharlika, 5-0

CARMONA, CAVITE – The Azkals Development Team continued their rise up the standings of the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL) brought to you by Qatar Airways with a resounding 5-0 victory over Maharlika Manila Friday at the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) National Training Center.  After a scoreless first half, Jarvey Gayoso powered a second half explosion with two goals and two assists and strengthen ADT’s grip on third place with two wins a row and six points.

The Azkals finally broke Maharlika’s tough defense after Dingdong Fornea tripped Chima Uzoka inside the penalty box leading to Gayoso completing the ensuing penalty kick in the 60th minute.  Barely five minutes later, Lance Ocampo found the sprinting Yrick Gallantes for the second goal and then Gayoso assisted to Uzoka for an imposing 3-0 lead by the 75th minute.

They were not yet done as Gayoso continued to make his teammates look good with another 90th minute assist to Uzoka to complete the brace.  For good measure, Gayoso added another solo effort goal in stoppage time to complete his brace and more importantly the rout.

Aside from breaking their tie for third place with Maharlika entering the match, the Azkals also gained a chance to snatch second place if they win their final match on Monday against Stallion Laguna and Kaya Iloilo loses to United City.  That will up their final total to nine points or one better than the eight of Kaya.
