FilOil: National d. EAC, 96-84

SAN JUAN City – National University snapped its three-game losing streak and entered the win column at the 12th FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre Tuesday.  The Bulldogs’ youngsters showed some bite as they controlled the game from the opening tip.

John Lloyd Clemente set the tone early with 12 points and six rebounds in the first half alone as they led comfortably, 49-37.  From there, it was the turn of Chino Mosqueda to take over in the second as they coasted to the victory.

Mosqueda led all scorers with 18 points on top of five rebounds and four assists in only 21 minutes of play.  Clemente was next with 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

“We lost our first three games because we are a young team,” admitted Mosqueda. “We beat good teams in other tournaments so we relaxed.”

For his part, Coach Jamike Jarin hopes his youngsters will mature quickly as the team has the talent.  “We have to continue improving, we played well in our three losses – we just could not sustain it.”

John Paul Maguliano led the still winless Generals with 16 points, five rebounds and five assists.  Jerome Garcia followed with three triples for 15 points plus four rebounds and three assists.
