Sisos Rule Peugeot Tennis-CDO Leg

Peugeot-Tennis Logo     CAGAYAN DE Oro City – The brother and sister tandem of Bernardine and Sally Mae Siso turned the courts of the Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center into their private playground as they combined to rule the kickoff qualifying leg of the 2015-2016 Peugeot Philippine Tennis Open last Sunday (October 18). The Cebu City-based siblings thus earned spots in the National Finals to be held in February of next year in Metro Manila.

The 22-year old Bernardine or Nino beat a man literally twice his age, 44-year old Danilo Sajonia, to win the Men’s Singles in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1. Sally Mae or Em-Em, needed 83 minutes to survive local bet Janelle Carmela Llavore for the Women’s Singles plum via a similar result of 6-3 and 6-1.

Em-Em would then combine with Charise Java to thwart Llavore and partner Anjelica Mosqueda for the Women’s Doubles, 6-1 and 6-3. Sadly, Nino and teammate Bernan Lou Bering fell short in the Men’s Doubles finale with the title going to Sajonia and Lenario Autentico in three sets, 6-1, 5-7 and 10-4.

All the champions received trophies, gift items from Wilson and cash prizes amounting to as much as PHP 20,000.00 each for the Singles winners. Doubles champions will split PHP 11,000.00.

Last weekend’s wins continued the Sisos’ comeback in the local tennis scene. After a decorated age-group stint, they went on a break to finish their studies at the University of San Carlos while playing for the varsity with Nino earning a BS Nursing degree en route to passing the board exams and Em-Em finishing BSBA Marketing.

The next regional legs will be held in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental from November 23 to 29, and immediately followed by the Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija leg from November 30 to December 6, 2015.
