Welcome to the adidas Family Kyle Lowry!

BASKETBALL UP north of the border gets a big boost as adidas recently announced a partnership with Toronto Raptors star guard Kyle Lowry. The eight-year National Basketball Association (NBA) pro is one of the major reasons for the Canadian franchise’s all-time high of a 48-34 win-loss card after posting career-best norms of 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.4 assists in the just concluded season.

The Raptors finished as the top team in the Atlantic Division and returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2007-2008. Overall, the team has made the playoffs six times since entering as an expansion team in 1995-1996.

Lowry, a recent Manila visitor, has been in Toronto for two seasons already. His career began with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2006 followed by a midseason trade to Houston Rockets in February, 2009, staying until the end of the 2011-2012 wars.

“I’m really excited to continue my career with adidas and join a brand that I think compliments my aggressive playing style and future goals,” said Lowry. For his part, adidas Global Basketball General Manager Chris Grancio added “Kyle is a great addition to our brand and will complement our growing family of elite basketball athletes, adding to our brand’s momentum. He is a seasoned veteran surrounded by a young and improving Toronto lineup that is on the rise under his leadership.”

At 28, the 6’0” product of Villanova University should be a Raptors fixture for seasons to come after signing a contract extension last month. Lowry will be featured in a variety of upcoming adidas initiatives and will help develop basketball shoes and apparel.

The current adidas basketball roster includes top athletes Dwight Howard, Damian Lillard, Derrick Rose and Candace Parker. For more information, please like adidas on Facebook and follow adidas on Twitter.
