ISAA11: PATTS d. La Consolacion, 60-38

ISAA Season 10

THE FINALS

PARANAQUE CITY – There will be no sweep of the 11th Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) Seniors Basketball tournament after home team PATTS College of Aeronautics halted defending champion La Consolacion College-Manila in a defensive battle, 60-38, at the A. R. Valdez Hall Thursday.  The scene now shifts to the neutral Trinity University of Asia campus in Quezon City for Game Three on Monday.

The Seahorses’ defense limited the Blue Royals to only three points in the first period, a triple by Jesse Bardaje, as they raced to the 18-3 lead and were never threatened.  Leonard Mengoy and Mark Jayson Morada hit five and four respectively as they outscored the entire opposition.

Norman Torreno continued his scoring ways from Game One as he hit nine of his 15 points in the third period as PATTS was in cruise control mode.  Mengoy added six more after the first period to finish with 11.

Ahron Estacio led the Blue Royals with seven points.  Bardaje and Ryan Jay Untalan were next with five points each.

La Consolacion took Game One last Monday at their home, 64-54.  The Blue Royals and Seahorses also disputed last year’s crown with the former prevailing in three games thus denying PATTS a rare four-peat.

Meanwhile, Treston International College wrested Third Place over Trinity, 59-56.  Renzo Ordiales and Ron Ulep scored eight points each in the fourth period to power the Golden Lions’ rally from a 36-43 deficit after three periods.
