UCSAA: June 8 Recap

UCSAA Season 9     QUEZON CITY – Blowouts closed out the double preliminary round of the Ninth Universities, Colleges and Schools Athletic Association (UCSAA) Preseason Tournament at the AMA University-Quezon City Gym Saturday.  Host AMA crushed First City Providential College to clinch the best record and top seeding, 103-62, while Saint Dominic Savio College routed WCC-Aerotech College, 87-61.

Luke Parcero and Morten Hansen led AMA’s initial surge until Francesco Asuncion began to connect from three-point distance for 14 points to give them the 57-33 halftime edge.  Asuncion finished with a total of 28 points on eight triples.

First City Providential College 3-3
Saint Dominic Savio College 3-3
WCC-Aerotech College 2-4

SDSC’s victory avoided a semifinal clash with the top-seeded Titans.  Jim Dexter Tenedero scattered 13 points to preside over the Unicorns’ runaway for their third win in six games and a semifinal meeting with the Royal Eagles.

The knockout semifinals will be held on June 15 at AMA starting at 11:00 AM.  The winners will play the championship game immediately the next day will the losers dispute Third Place.
