NCAA94: Arellano’s Cheerleading Grand Slam

Arellano University: NCAA Three-Peat Cheerleading Champions

NCAA Season 94     PASAY CITY – The Arellano University Chiefsquad achieved a rare triple crown by taking home the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 94 Cheerleading Competition Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.  The event also served as the formal closing ceremonies of the league with the declaration of San Beda University as the overall champion in the Seniors Division.

Using music from the 90’s, the Chiefs put up a clean five-minute routine with just the right degree of difficulty.  “I drew inspiration from the music of my youth when I danced at town fiestas,” said Coach Lucky San Juan.

Arellano scored 229.5 points, seven better than runner-up University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta Perps Squad.  The Mapua University Chirping Cardinals took a distant Third Place with 211.5 points.

“This early, I am thinking about our fourth championship next season where we are also the hosts,” added Coach San Juan.  “After seeing the other schools perform, this is a sign that now there are many schools that can beat us.”

Arellano’s road to the trophy was not easy with their thrice a day practices.  As a sign of solidarity, the female members agreed to cut their hair short while the males grew theirs long.

San Beda earned the overall championship on strength of their topping Basketball, Football, Beach Volleyball, Badminton and Swimming.  The Juniors Division overall championship went to Perpetual Help.
