NCRAA26: PATTS d. UL, 78-68

#NCRAA26     PARANAQUE CITY – Third seed PATTS College of Aeronautics scored the first upset of the 26th National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) quarterfinals after defeated second seed University of Luzon, 78-68, in continuing action Monday at Olivarez College.  Up next for the winning Seahorses is undefeated Philippine Merchant Marine School which won earlier over Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna, 72-69.

Veteran Jestoni Loyola hit a pair of triples that sandwiched Norman Torreno’s two free throws that gave the lead and erected a 64-57 advantage for PATTS with six minutes left on the clock.  The Golden Tigers hardly recovered from that salvo as they began to misfire with Loyola, Torreno, Aldrich Lopez and Mark Jayson Morada continuing to deliver the baskets that allowed the Seahorses to coast into the semifinals.

Loyola led all scorers with 26 points and 10 rebounds.  Torreno and Morada both chipped in 13 points while Lopez ended up with a near triple double of 10 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Mario Torio came off the bench to power the Golden Tigers with 19 points, six rebounds and five assists.  Reynald Ballesteros could only manage three triples but still wound up with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
