FilOil: Ateneo d. San Beda, 69-68

SAN JUAN City – Ateneo de Manila University survived a furious comeback by defending champion San Beda University to prevail, 69-68, in a meeting of undefeated teams Friday at the 12th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup Friday afternoon at the FilOil Flying V Centre.  The Blue Eagles improved to 2-0 and early leadership of Group A.

The Blue Eagles used a 9-0 run to erect a 65-57 lead midway in the fourth.  They managed to maintain their advantage with Matthew Nieto hitting two free throws at the 15-second mark, 69-64, until the Red Lions came storming back.
