FilOil: Arellano d. San Sebastian, 68-61

     SAN JUAN City – Arellano University turned up the heat in the second half to tame San Sebastian College, 68-61, at the 12th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre.  Veteran Michael Canete provided leadership to the young bunch of Coach Jerry Codinera to even their record at 1-1.

The Chiefs clung to a shaky four-point lead at halftime, 31-27, but Canete and Levi de la Cruz combined for 12 points to power their breakaway.  “We have been working on our pressure defense and also on the habits of the players,” said Coach Codinera.

Canete had a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds plus five steals.  De la Cruz and Archie Concepcion followed with nine points.

Arjan de la Cruz led the Stags with three triples for 17 points.  Justin Mercado was next with 10 points.
