FilOil: FEU d. Arellano, 74-65

     SAN JUAN City – Far Eastern University opened action in Group B of the 12th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup by blasting Arellano University, 74-65, at the FilOil Flying V Centre Sunday.  The Tamaraws built a big lead in the first half and held on despite a strong rally by the Chiefs in the second half.

Hubert Cani and Richard Escoto already hit twin figures as they towed FEU to the 47-24 halftime advantage.  Rookies Guilmer de la Torre and Maui Sera Josef combined with veteran Michael Canete in the second half to bring Arellano closer but the effort fell short.

Cani topped the Tamaraws with 15 and three assists.  Escoto did not score in the second half and stayed at 10 points while Brandrey Bienes also scored 10 points, eight coming in the second half.

Sera Josef and de la Torre paced the Chiefs with 15 markers each.  Canete notched a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds.
