SBU, LPU For PCCL 2017

There Can Only Be One     SAN JUAN City – It will be a grudge match between San Beda University and Lyceum of the Philippines University for the 2017 Philippine Collegiate Champions League after they bested separate semifinal opponents Monday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.  The two rivals will meet for the crown on Thursday at the same venue starting at 5:00 PM.

LPU bagged the first seat in the finals by taming San Sebastian College, 82-69.  The Pirates broke the game wide open in the third with Jaycee Marcelino leading the way and then coasting along.

Marcelino led all scorers with 24 points plus 10 rebounds.  Mike Harry Nzeusseu continued to be force underneath with 13 points and 15 rebounds.

SBU made it an all-NCAA finale by slipping past UAAP champion Ateneo de Manila University, 57-52. Donald Tankoua scored on a layup with 53 seconds remaining to put the Red Lions ahead, 54-52, and then joined Javee Mocon in sealing the outcome via the free throw line as the Blue Eagles fired blanks.

Mocon led the way for the winners with 21 points.  Tankoua followed with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
