D-League: Wang’s d. AMA, 110-85

2017 Foundation Cup     PASIG CITY – Wang’s Basketball reached new heights as they registered their fifth win in eight games at the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup by stopping AMA Online Education, 110-85, at the Ynares Sports Arena Tuesday (July 11).  This marks the first time that the franchise has tallied five wins since first joining the league in 2013.

AMA opened up the scoring with a Jairold Flores triple but that was basically it for the Titans as it was total domination for Wang’s.  Robert Herndon and John Ambulodto formed a potent inside-outside scoring punch as Wang’s handily took the first period, 30-11.

Almost every player fielded by Coach Pablo Lucas contributed.  “I’m proud our performance today because they followed the game plan and focused on defense,” said Coach Lucas.

Herndon powered Wang’s with a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds while Ambulodto was joined by John Montemayor and Michael Juico in chipping in 12 markers each.  “My teammates did a good job and I really wanted to win today because we want to make the playoffs,” said Herndon.

Renzo Subido was the lone bright spot for AMA as he tried to lift the squad with 35 points and eight assists but it was not enough to prevent them from falling to 1-6 and dangerously close to elimination from the playoffs.  Embons Bonleon was the only other Titan in twin figures with 11 points.
