D-League: CEU d. AMA, 100-85

2017 Foundation Cup     PASIG CITY – Centro Escolar University moved back into contention for a playoff spot at the halfway point of the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup after they kept AMA Online Education winless, 100-85, at the completion of games at the Ynares Sports Arena Thursday (June 29). The Scorpions are now on a three-game winning roll after dropping their first two assignments.

“We are not thinking about playoffs now, we will take it game by game,” said Coach Yong Garcia.  “The important thing is that the team is improving but we still have to fix our sickness of relaxing towards the end when we have big leads.”

Embons Bonleon gave AMA the lead for the last time, 29-28, and that was the cue for the Scorpions to unload six straight points and coasting to take a solid 51-37 lead at halftime behind the torrid shooting of JK Casino.  CEU then proceeded to pull away as much as 20 points, 69-49, but the Titans managed to close in slightly behind Bonleon, Daniel Salonga and Ivan Villanueva before Rodrigue Ebondo put the finishing touches on the rout.

Ebondo had another monster effort of 27 points, 22 rebounds and four blocks.  Casino fired six triples en route to 22 points.

Bonleon topped the Titans with 30 points but it did not stop them from absorbing their fifth straight loss.  He was followed by Renzo Subido with 23 points and four assists.

AMA ONLINE EDUCATION (85) – Bonleon 30, Subido 23, Salonga 10, Villanueva 7, Alas 5, Flores 3, Alupani 3, Paras 2, Celso 2, Macaranas 0, Malones 0, Jordan 0.

Period Scores: 21-19, 51-37, 74-63, 100-85.
