D-League: Cignal HD d. AMA, 86-76

2017 Foundation Cup     PASIG CITY – Cignal HD returned to the winning track by stopping AMA Online Education, 86-76, at the resumption of the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena Tuesday (June 13).  It was a good win for the Hawkeyes who dropped their last assignment against Marinerong Pilipino by the slimmest of margins, 65-66.

It did not matter that Cignal’s leading scorer Jason Perkins sat out the game as the Hawkeyes were never threatened save for three deadlocks early on.  It was total domination as they unleashed a 12-0 run to set the score at 29-16 and the Titans never recovered.

Perkins excused himself to attend to his thesis and other graduation requirements at De La Salle University but was present to cheer his teammates on.  Cignal found ready replacements to take up the scoring cudgels with Davon Potts, Pamboy Raymundo and Raymar Jose taking turns at padding their lead which stretched to as much as 25 markers in the third period, 64-39.

Potts led the Hawkeyes with 17 points – eight in the first period breakaway and nine more in fourth period mopping up operations.  Raymundo followed with 16 points while Jose missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Paolo Pontejos paced the Titans who dropped their second straight contest with 24 points.  Embons Bonleon was next with 13 points and eight rebounds.
