FilOil: June 7 Roundup

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – Here is a summary of the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup games completed last Wednesday (June 7) at the FilOil Flying V Centre.  The playoff picture just got a little bit clearer.

San Sebastian College rode on the stellar efforts of RK Ilagan, Jayson David and Michael Calisaan to whip University of the Philippines, 68-58.  In the ensuing game, Far Eastern University blasted Emilio Aguinaldo College, 64-51, to match SSC’s 6-1 win-loss card and setup a showdown with the Stags for the top seeding in Group B in their final assignment on June 12.

Later on, University of the East ended its campaign on a positive note by halting Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 81-77. The Warriors finished with a 3-5 win-loss card while the Knights formally dropped out of contention at 1-5.

In the day’s opening Senior match, Arellano University salvaged some pride by keeping Mapua University winless, 68-58. The win gives the 3-4 Chiefs a slim chance of making the playoffs if they win their last game against UP and pray that other teams at the top lose their final games.

Meanwhile, the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eaglets clinched the top seeding in Group A of the Juniors Division by trouncing archrival La Salle Green Hills for their fourth win in as many starts, 70-62.  They now await the results of the next Group B games to determine their crossover semifinal opponent.
