PASIG CITY – Racal Motors put up a dazzling display of firepower to dispose of AMA Online Education, 118-100, in continuing action from the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena Thursday (June 1). Mac Tallo and Janus Lozada came off the bench to rain triples on AMA as the outcome was settled as early as the first period.
Tallo and Lozada accounted for three triples each in a sizzling 27-6 run that shattered the game’s final deadlock at 6-6. The opener ended with Racal comfortably ahead, 36-16, and they were never threatened.
“AMA has a lot of new players and we did not know what to expect so I just told the players to do their roles and let’s see what will happen,” said Coach Jerry Codinera. With the game in the bag, Coach Codinera had the luxury of giving all his players time to show their wares.
Making his Manila commercial debut after a stellar collegiate stint with Cebu’s Southwestern University, Tallo topped Racal with 20 points with 10 coming in the first period breakaway on top of four assists. Lozada was next with 17 as five other teammates submitted nine or more markers in a balanced attack.
Embons Bonleon paced AMA with 31 points and 12 rebounds but the good effort went to naught. Daniel Salonga followed with 12 of his 20 points coming in the fourth period.
