FilOil: Far Eastern d. Mapua, 99-84

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup    SAN JUAN City – Far Eastern University extended its winning run at the 11th FilOil Fying V Premier Cup to four games by clobbering winless Mapua University, 99-84, in an awesome display of teamwork Sunday (May 28) at FilOil Flying V Centre. The Tamaraws seized control for good in the second period and were never threatened as they coasted to the victory.

Underscoring their impressive teamwork was their grand total of 25 assists.  “In the PBA, 25 assists is already good for a 48-minute game but we play only 40 minutes here so 25 assists is very good,” observed winning coach Olsen Racela, who commended rookie guard Jasper Parker for leading the way with six assists to go with his 14 points.

Another rookie guard RJ Ramirez shone for the second game in a row with 18 points on two triples.  Arvin Tolentino patrolled the inside for 17 points on top of nine rebounds.

Andrew Estrella paced the losing Cardinals with 17 points while Cedric Pelayo added 13.  With their fifth loss, Mapua formally bowed out of contention for a spot in next month’s quarterfinals.
