FilOil: San Beda d. UE, 68-55

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – San Beda College bucked a slow start to thwart University of the East, 68-55, at the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup Friday (May 26) at the FilOil Flying V Centre.  The Red Lions are now 2-0 to pace Group A.

UE jumped to a 21-12 lead after one period but the Red Lions turned up the defense to limit the Warriors to only seven points in the second.  By then, San Beda had built an imposing 38-28 advantage at the halftime break which they never gave up coasting to the easy win.

Arnaud Noah powered the Red Lions with 16 points and eight rebounds while Javee Mocon had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.  The rest of the team churned out a balanced attack.

Alvin Pasaol was the lone bright spot for UE with 19 points and six rebounds despite being saddled with early foul trouble.  Vince Magbuhos was next with only nine points.

The Red Lions now brace for a blockbuster showdown with defending champion De La Salle University on Sunday (May 28).  The Green Archers tote a 3-1 card, good for Third Place, half a game behind Jose Rizal University (4-1).
