FilOil: Jose Rizal d. Perpetual Help, 70-56

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – Days after absorbing their first loss, Jose Rizal University regrouped to clobber University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta, 70-56, at the resumption of the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup Friday (May 26) at the FilOil Flying V Centre.  Bernabe Teodoro starred in a crippling 13-0 run that delivered the knockout blow as the Heavy Bombers improved to 4-1.

Alta Daryl Singontiko scored on a drive to peg the count at 52-57.  That was the cue for JRU to begin their final run highlighted by three triples from Teodoro as the margin ballooned to 70-52 and 38 seconds left on the clock.

“I credit the good defense and effort of the team especially in the fourth,” said Coach Vergel Meneses.  “Our loss to Lyceum earlier this week was a wakeup call.”

Teodoro paced the Heavy Bombers with five triples for 19 points on top of five rebounds.  Ervin Grospe followed with 12 points and five rebounds.

GJ Ylagan topped the Altas with 13 points as no other teammate had double figures.  Prince Eze returned to active duty to contribute eight points but could only grab four rebounds as they fell to 2-3.
