FilOil: EAC d. Saint Benilde, 78-70

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – Emilio Aguinaldo College marched to its second win by continuing the woes of College of Saint Benilde, 78-70, in continuing action from the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre Friday (May 26). It was a good bounce back win by the Generals who lost their last game against University of the Philippines while the Blazers went further down the standings with their fifth loss in a row.

Jerome Garcia led the way with four triples en route to 20 points to go with four rebounds.  The Generals hardly missed big man Hamadou Laminou who had his knee diagnosed after getting injured against UP.

The Generals also drew step up games from Francis Munsayac with 13 and eight assists and Sidney Onwubere who patrolled the inside for 12 points and 10 rebounds.  EAC built enough cushion by halftime, 42-31, to minimize the effects of a third period run by the Blazers that saw them close in entering the final period, 51-59.

Clement Leutcheu topped Saint Benilde with 21 points and 17 rebounds.  Edward Dixon was the only other Blazer in twin figures with 11 points and six rebounds.

In the first game, La Salle Green Hills routed winless Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 77-60, to finally barge into the win column after two defeats.  Joshua David starred for the victorious Greenies with 17 points and four rebounds in 20 minutes play.
