FilOil: Perpetual Help d. Letran, 88-87 (OT)

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – Gab Dagangon played the hero’s role to the hilt as the lifted University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta over Colegio de San Juan de Letran in overtime, 88-87, in continuing action from the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre Friday (May 19).  The Altas evened their win-loss card at 1-1 while the Knights were sent reeling to their fourth straight loss.

Dagangon scored the winning triple with seconds to go push the Altas on top by a point, 88-87, and the defense went to work to deny Letran a chance to steal the victory.  Earlier, Dagangon sent the game into overtime, 78-78.

Dagangon led all scorers with 26 points on top of seven rebounds.  He was ably supported by JG Ylagan with 17 and AJ Coronel with 11 markers.

Bong Quinto topped the struggling Knights with 18 points, six rebounds and eight assists.  Jerrick Balanza added 17 points as Letran missed the services of veterans Rey Nambatac and John Paul Calvo.

In the day’s curtain raiser, University of Santo Tomas remained unbeaten in three starts in Group B of the Juniors Division by downing no less than defending UAAP champion Far Eastern University-Diliman, 81-72.  Kobe Palencia paced the Tiger Cubs with 16 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals.
