FilOil: Adamson d. National, 78-72

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – Adamson University extended its winning run to five games at the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup after the Falcons stopped National University, 78-72, in continuing action Friday (May 19) at the FilOil Flying V Centre.  With the win, Adamson moved closer to being the first team to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals.

A rain of triples was the key for Adamson as they sank 11 of their 22 attempts from beyond the arc.  Jerrick Ahanmisi showed the way with four triples with his last one giving their side a secure 68-55 edge with 5:46 to play.

However, the Bulldogs came fighting back as they reduced the final deficit, a fact that did not sit well with acting coach Jack Santiago.  “This is our first game against a fellow UAAP team so we must not relax, finish strong and make a statement,” said Coach Santiago.

Ahanmisi finished with 16 points on top of six rebounds and two assists.  Sean Manganti followed with 14 points and four rebounds.

J-Jay Alejandro paced the Bulldogs with 21 points on four triples but it was not enough to prevent them from absorbing their first loss after three wins to open the tournament.  Issa Gaye was next with 13 points and six rebounds.
