FilOil: Jose Rizal d. UE, 67-62

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – Jose Rizal University climbed to the top of Group A of the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup with their second straight win in as many games by halting University of the East, 67-62, Sunday (May 7) at the FilOil Flying V Arena.  Bernabe Teodoro broke out of his mid-game silence to save the Heavy Bombers with timely hits in the final period.

Teodoro was sizzling already in the first half with 14 markers as they took a 41-38 lead.  The lead ballooned to 11 by the end of the third, 59-48, and that proved to be enough cushion.

Suddenly, JRU had difficulty finding the basket.  Clark Derige starred in the Warriors’ intense rally but it was quickly neutralized by six points from Teodoro as the Heavy Bombers could only come up with eight points in the fourth canto.

Teodoro finished with 20 points on three triples plus six rebounds and a steal.  Ervin Grospe was next with 10 points and six rebounds.

Alvin Pasaol topped UE with 10 points and six rebounds.  Derige followed with eight points and two assists as they evened their win-loss record at 1-1.
