FilOil: DLSU d. Perpetual, 94-71

2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup     SAN JUAN City – Defending champion De La Salle University bounced back from its opening day loss to deal a 94-71 beating on University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta in the main game of the 11th FilOil Flying V Premier Cup Sunday evening (May 7).  After absorbing an 81-85 loss to Jose Rizal University on opening day, the Green Archers vented their frustrations to the Altas from the opening buzzer and kept the pace for the whole 40 minutes.

The Altas found no answer to Benoit Mbala as the hulking Cameroonian muscled his way to 19 points and six rebounds in 15 minutes of play in the first half alone as DLSU led, 49-33.  Mbala eventually finished with 30 points and nine rebounds while Leonard Santillan backed him up with 10 points and six rebounds.

Overall, the Green Archers forced the Altas to commit a total of 43 turnovers.  “That’s our game were we do a lot of trapping and running and the ball rotation today was good,” said winning Coach Aldin Ayo.
