PBA Legends Draw With During’s, 153-153

PBA Legends and During’s pose before engaging in a 153-153 stalemate.

PASIG CITY – The PBA Legends escaped with a 153-153 draw with During’s Barbecue-Sumilang in an exhibition game Thursday night (April 27) at the Sumilang Covered Court.  The fun game was organized by former PBA Chairman Buddy Encarnado as part of the Santa Rosa de Lima Parish fiesta and the 400th death anniversary of patroness Saint Rose of Lima.

Expedito “Noynoy” Falcasantos saved the day for the Legends as he converted on an under the basket stab off a baseball pass from Kenneth Duremdes to tie the score at the buzzer.  Earlier, Talk ‘N Text reserve player and Sumilang resident Levi Hernandez gave the local side the upper hand with a triple, 153-151, and sending the Legends scrambling for the mad finish.

The big and small combination of Marlou Aquino and Gherome Ejercito led the way for the Legends with 26 points each.  Johnny Abbarientos was next with 25 points, including five first quarter triples.

Hernandez unloaded an insane 52 points to keep During’s in contention.  He was backstopped well by former NAASCU Mythical Five awardees Jerald Bautista and Cedric Ablaza of STI College with 38 and 16 points respectively.

Completing the Legends’ stellar roster were four-time PBA MVP Alvin Patrimonio, Nelson Asaytono, Alvin Teng and EJ Feihl.  During’s was reinforced by ex-PBA point guard Ogie Gumatay.
