ROS Sumilang Invitational: CEU d. Pasay, 88-41

NAASCU on Facebook     PASIG CITY – Centro Escolar University swept Group B of the Rain Or Shine Sumilang Invitational Tournament by crushing winless City University of Pasay, 88-41, in the penultimate game of elimination play Monday (April 24) at the Sumilang Covered Court.  The undefeated Scorpions (4-0) received a major boost as they enter the quarterfinals against Group A fourth seed AMA University (1-3) on Tuesday (April 25).

Starting guard JK Casino wove his magic early as he dropped 11 points in the first period, outscoring the entire opposition by himself.  However, a late CUP run pegged the count at 24-13 still in CEU’s favor but it hardly mattered as the Eagles could only put up pockets of resistance.

So unforgiving was the Scorpions’ defense that they limited the Eagles to only four points in the second period.  That was enough to deliver the early knockout blow as CEU proceeded to lead by as high as 48 markers, 87-39.

Casino added four more points in the third frame to top the Scorpions with 15 points spiked with a pair of triples. Judel Fuentes took over from Casino’s scoring chores to pop in 11 points in the second period and finish with 14 points.

Francis Macasil paced the Eagles with 11 points and five rebounds.  Patrick Miguel Martin was next with 10 points.
