NCRUCLAA on Facebook     QUEZON CITY – Favored squads Technological Institute of the Philippines, Rizal Technological University, De La Salle University-Dasmarinas and Philippine Merchant Marine School all advanced to the semifinals of the National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCRUCLAA) Women’s Volleyball tournament at the conclusion of the quarterfinal round Tuesday (February 28) at the Colegio de San Lorenzo Gym.

Group A winner TIP Lady Engineers stretched their undefeated run to five matches by repelling the challenge of the Philippine School of Business Administration Lady Jaguars in straight sets, 26-24, 25-20 and 25-17.  Their semifinal opponent will be the PMMS Lady Mariners who survived the toughest match of the day as they held off the University of Makati Lady Herons in a four-set battle, 25-22, 22-25, 26-24 and 25-19.

Group B top seed DLSU-D Lady Patriots also maintained their perfect record of six matches by outlasting home team CDSL in three sets, 25-11, 25-18 and 25-18.  Waiting for the Lady Patriots are the dangerous RTU Lady Thunder who eliminated the NCBA Lady Wildcats also in three sets, 25-14, 30-28 and 25-14.

The crossover quarterfinal round was a straight knockout affair involving the top four teams of the two elimination round groups.  The semifinal round will be a best-of-three series with Game One scheduled for March 10 at the NCBA Gym in Fairview.

Meanwhile, the four quarterfinal matches in the Men’s Division will be played on March 7 (Tuesday) at NCBA-Fairview starting at 9:00 AM.  The winners will also play their semifinal matches on March 10 in the same venue.
