NCRUCLAA: Olivarez d. PSBA-QC, 77-70

NCRUCLAA on Facebook     PARANAQUE CITY – Olivarez College needed a strong second half to tame Philippine School of Business Administration, 77-70, in continuing action from the National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association  (NCRUCLAA) Basketball tournament at the A. R. Valdez Hall of PATTS College of Aeronautics Thursday (February 16).  Raymond Andico came off the bench to spark the Sea Lions’ rally with 11 points in the third period to reverse their 24-33 halftime deficit.

Andico capped his personal explosion with back-to-back baskets that gave Olivarez the lead for good, 51-48, and 45 ticks to go in the third canto.  PSBA would counter with seven unanswered points to threaten, 64-67, but this was quickly defused by a three-point play by Pruvil Bermudes followed by big hits by Vinny Begaso, John Rabe and Archie Sunga to seal their fourth victory in five games.

Begaso powered Olivarez with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Andico finished with 16 points while Rabe and Dwight Saguiguit chipped in eight points apiece.

Christian Daguro led all scorers with 22 points, 11 coming in the opening period, on top of nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.  Johndel Carlo Velasco was next with 13 markers as the Jaguars lapsed into a tie with PATTS for the fourth and last playoff berth in Group A with a 3-2 win-loss card.
