NCRUCLAA: DLSU-D d. AIMS, 77-58

NCRUCLAA on Facebook     MAKATI CITY – De La Salle University-Dasmarinas picked up a very important win at the National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCRUCLAA) at the expense of season host Asian Institute of Maritime Studies, 77-58, in continuing action Monday (February 13) at the University of Makati Gym.  The win kept the Patriots’ Group B playoff hunt alive while arresting their two-game losing streak.

AIMS gave it a tough fight and managed to stay at pace with their opponents.  However, the Patriots went on a 9-0 third period closing run that broke the game’s last deadlock of 46-46 and pushed them ahead for good, 54-46.  Momentum carried on into the final canto as Kobe Caronongan, Ira Kim Imperial and Pacholo Loor took turns at peppering the suddenly-listless Sharks.

Slowly but surely, DLSU’s lead ballooned to as much as 20 markers, 76-56. However in a sudden twist of events, team captain John Cantimbuhan was thrown out of the game with 1:06 left for incurring a second technical foul for excessive complaining and will automatically miss their next contest against Saint Francis of Assisi College.

Caronongan presided over the romp with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Karl Jacob Khan was next with 13 points, four rebounds and four steals.

Louisse Evangelista paced the still winless Blue Sharks with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists.  Christian Roblo added 10 markers, six coming in the fourth.
