NCRUCLAA: DLSU-D d. Makati, 97-64

NCRUCLAA on Facebook     PARANAQUE CITY – De La Salle University-Dasmarinas bucked a slow start to subdue University of Makati, 97-64, in continuing action from the National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCRUCLAA) at the A. R. Valdez Hall of PATTS College of Aeronautics Thursday (January 19). John Cantimbuhan came off the bench to spark the Patriots’ strong second period run that settled the final outcome early.

The Herons started strong behind starting center Chris Dabbay and substitute Jerico Estaris to hold a slim 20-19 lead after one period.  Cantimbuhan then went to work and helped put DLSU ahead for good on a triple, 24-22.

With Makati closing back in, 30-32, Cantimbuhan then starred with Pacholo Loor in a crippling 11-0 run that broke the game wide open and the opposition never recovered, 43-30.  The Patriots maintained their intensity and continued to expand their margin with John Michael Ronquillo capping the victory with a one-handed dunk at the buzzer.

Cantimbuhan led all scorers with 31 points, 23 made in the second and third periods with eight more in the final canto for good measure as he keyed the bench crew of Coach Arnold Oliveros in outscoring Makati’s bench, 54-24.  Loor was next with 14 points and two steals.

Estaris and Alian Lapasaran paced the Herons with 13 markers each.  John Paul Obiar followed with 11.

Period Scores: 19-20, 43-34, 69-50, 97-64.
