SEASON HOST Asian Institute of Maritime Studies will make sure everything will be covered once the very first National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCRUCLAA) reels off on January 17, 2017 (Tuesday) at the nearby Cuneta Astrodome, a block away from their campus in Pasay City. Aside from being a good host to 15 other varsity teams, the Blue Sharks will also shoot for a credible performance.
Engr. Ted N. Cada, AIMS Athletic Director and School Registrar, is the President of the newly-formed league, a union of the former National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) and Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAA). AIMS was a member of the UCLAA and will also compete in Junior Basketball and Men’s and Women’s Volleyball.
The Blue Sharks are composed of Christian Roblo, Kirby Jason Alvendia, Christian Arcenal, James Fajardo, CJ Gancayco, Angelo Gasgonia, Clyde Jasper Hernandez, Julius Inid, Edward Javiero, Christian Lim, Jon Francis Lotoc, Patrick Moncada, Ezrah Glen Pacla, Louisse Evangelista and Ace Jon Viniegas. Coaching the team is Raymund Aransazo, brother of Coach Lensy Aransazo of fellow NCRUCLAA member PATTS College of Aeronautics.
However, there will be no clash of the siblings at the moment as both teams are in separate brackets and may meet only in the playoff rounds if they make it. Each eight-team group will play a single round robin amongst themselves with the top four advancing to the knockout quarterfinals followed by the best-of-three semifinals and best-of-three championship series.
AIMS is joined in Group B by Colegio de San Lorenzo, De La Salle University-Dasmarinas, De Ocampo Memorial College, National College of Business and Arts, Philippine State College of Aeronautics, Philippine Merchant Marine School and Saint Francis of Assisi College. PATTS is in Group A together with Don Bosco Technical College, Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite, Olivarez College, Philippine School of Business Administration, Rizal Technological University, Technological Institute of the Philippines and University of Makati.
