STARTING THIS season, NBA All-Star guard James Harden will finally have a signature shoe of his own after adidas recently introduced the Harden Vol. 1.  This marks the beginning of a partnership that will see the development of footwear and apparel tailored to the style of play and design tastes of the Houston Rockets team leader.

Fittingly, the first edition to be launched is called Pioneer, a shoe that immortalizes March 24, 2007 – the date a then 17-year old Harden scored 22 points on top of eight rebounds, three assists and two steals to power the Artesia High School Pioneers to its second straight California state championship.  That performance led to a roster spot with Arizona State University and the rest they say is history.

Pioneer has a black upper, a white toe and red accents to match Artesia High’s colors.  The championship date and statistics are printed on the sock liner.

Aside from the design elements, the shoe has BOOST cushioning for comfort and energy return.  The sole pattern was derived after computer-aided tests on Harden’s explosive speed and sudden stops thus giving maximum traction and protection.

“This was my first time creating a shoe from the ground up. With adidas, we wanted to stand for something different, be true to who we are and that’s how we separate ourselves,” said Harden.  “People always ask me, ‘How are you different?’ It’s hard to explain how you’re different but the shoe explains it for me.”

The release of the new signature shoe comes at a time Harden is laying the groundwork for a breakout season, his fifth in Houston and eighth overall as a professional.  After the Rockets’ first three games, he is averaging career highs of 29.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 10.7 assists!

Harden Vol. 1 will be available in the Philippines starting November 23, 2016 at adidas stores and selected retail partners with a suggested retail price of PHP 7,995.00.  More colorways will be launched throughout the course of the NBA season with the apparel collection following soon.
