NAASCU: September 26 Juniors Recap

NAASCU on Facebook     QUEZON CITY – Saint Clare College emerged as the undisputed top seed at the close of the elimination round of the 16th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) Juniors Division at the AMA University Gym last Monday (September 26).  The Junior Saints first did their part by crushing Philippine Merchant Marine School, 94-74, and then received an assist later in the day as AMA routed Rizal Technological University, 83-67.

Saint Clare topped the 10-team field with an 8-1 win-loss card.  Their only loss came at the hands of Our Lady of Fatima University, 80-86, last September 8.

AMA’s win thus created a triple tie for Second to Fourth Place with Fatima and RTU with 7-2 win-loss cards.  Applying the tiebreaker rules, AMA took Second Place, OLFU Third Place and RTU tumbled all the way to Fourth Place.

The Phoenix took the easy path to the triple tie after De Ocampo Memorial College failed to show up in time for their 8:00 AM game.  The Junior Cobras ended the season winless in nine games.

The Saints’ victory over the Junior Mariners allowed New Era University to claim Fifth Place after they mastered Colegio de San Lorenzo, 75-64.  Meanwhile, also ran squads Philippine Christian University and Manuel L. Quezon University squared off with the Baby Dolphins escaping with the 90-88 win over the Colts.
