NAASCU: September 6 Women’s Recap

NAASCU on Facebook     QUEZON CITY – Newcomer Philippine Merchant Marine School sent shockwaves throughout the 16th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) after downing erstwhile unbeaten AMA University, 79-72, at the resumption of play in Women’s basketball last Tuesday (September 6) at no less than the Lady Titans’ home floor.  The Lady Mariners improved to 1-1 while AMA fell to 2-1.

The high scoring duo of Ciara Ann Castillo and Emily Dumago struck heavily as PMMS rallied from an 11-point deficit entering the final period, 46-57.  Castillo ended up 28 and Dumago added 24 as the Lady Mariners outscored their opponents in the last 10 minutes, 33-15.

In the first game, Our Lady of Fatima University entered the win column after beating still winless Saint Clare College of Caloocan, 58-47.  Anna Kristel Escotido and Katrina Servillon paced the Lady Phoenix with 15 markers each.

Period Scores: 16-13, 34-31, 46-57, 79-72.
