NAASCU: September 1 Women’s Recap

NAASCU on Facebook     MANDALUYONG CITY – Rizal Technological University opened its quest for a first ever National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) Women’s Basketball crown by shellacking Our Lady of Fatima University, 75-56, to open a three-game bill at their home gym Thursday morning (September 1).  Later on, AMA University and Enderun Colleges bested their respective opponents to grab a share of the top of the standings with immaculate 2-0 cards.

The Lady Thunder used a balanced attack that underscored their deep bench to send the Lady Phoenix to the bottom of the pile at 2-0.  Crislyn Mier topped RTU with 10 points while six teammates had six or more points to negate the hot shooting of Fatima’s Kristel Esotido who made 21 and Anne Whitney Bentic with 13.

Enderun once again banked on the scoring prowess of Fil-Am recruit Ella Rodriguez who scattered 23 points as her side whipped the debuting Philippine Merchant Marine School Lady Mariners, 79-47.  Ciara Castillo led PMMS with 12 markers.

In the day’s other game, AMA overwhelmed Saint Clare College of Calocan, 74-52.  Action in the Women’s Division will continue next Tuesday (September 6) with three games at the AMA-Quezon City Gym starting at 7:00 AM.
