NAASCU: Enderun d. Saint Clare, 71-32

NAASCU on Facebook     MANDALUYONG CITY – Action in the Women’s Division of the 16th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities officially got underway Tuesday (August 30) at the Rizal Technological University Gym.  Newcomer Enderun Colleges gave a strong first impression by crushing Saint Clare College of Caloocan in the opener, 71-32.

The Taguig City-based Lady Titans banked on the 21-point burst of Ella Rodriguez, the niece of veteran NAASCU coach Arlene Rodriguez of RTU.  She was supported by Princess Abigail Manzanares with 18 points.

Enderun’s defense held the Lady Saints to single digit outputs in the first two periods to lay the foundation for the easy win.  Gem Parina led Saint Clare with nine points followed by Samantha Mendoza with seven.

Meanwhile, AMA University opened its campaign without breaking a sweat after their opponent, Our Lady of Fatima University failed to make it in time for their 8:30 AM game.  Completing the six-team cast are early favorite RTU and another newcomer in Philippine Merchant Marine School.

SAINT CLARE (32) – Parina 9, Mendoza 7, Hernandez 4, Natividad 4, Sison 3, Sumile 3, lfaro 2, M Reyes 0, C Reyes 0, Dichoso 0, Briones 0, Ojeda 0.

Period Scores: 14-5, 30-11, 47-22, 71-32.
