MAKATI CITY – Enderun Colleges emerged as the early surprise of the 16th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) by joining the top of the leader board with their second straight win after stopping Manuel L. Quezon University, 71-63, in a clash of erstwhile undefeated teams. The Titans are now in the company of Our Lady of Fatima University and Saint Clare College who successfully hurdled their opponents in the day’s earlier completed contests.
The Titans led from the opening tip. Mark Nunez got the better of his matchup against prolific Stallions guard Christopher Bitoon and 6’7 Serge Kaptue combined well up front with Mark Javen Gatdula as they jumped to a 13-3 lead and never looked back.
Kaptue finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds despite being saddled by foul trouble and eventual disqualification. Gatdula got the nod as Best Player after scoring eight of his 12 points in a second period romp to go with six rebounds.
Bitoon still got his usual numbers of 21 points and Jeymark Mallari and Gianne Rivera backed him up with 15 and 13 respectively. However, the rest of the Stallions struggled to find their form, a far cry from the squad that won over New Era last Friday, 88-70.
