NAASCU: Fatima d. PMMS, 72-67

NAASCU on Facebook     PASAY CITY – Joseph Marquez hit a dagger triple with less than a minute remaining to key Our Lady of Fatima University over Philippine Merchant Marine School, 72-67, at the 16th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) basketball tournament Thursday (August 25) at the Cuneta Astrodome.  Marquez’ triple pegged the count at 70-66 and his teammates proceeded to ice the game from the free throw line.

Martin Gozum scored all of his 14 points in the first half to set the tone of the rest of the contest.  Jerome Juanico was next with 13 points while Marquez finished with 12.

Daryl Margaja and Jake Yagonia paced the Mariners with 15 points each.  The duo made their most damage in the second period as they combined for 19 of the 28 PMMS points but could only muster nine points in the second half.
