Salano, Dichoso Lead MILO Lucena

#BuildChampions     LUCENA CITY – Richard Salano was declared the winner after a thrilling photo finish to the 40th MILO Marathon Lucena qualifiers last Sunday (August 14).  Salano finished the 21-kilometer race with the same time of 1:14:20 as second placer Gilbert Laido but the former got the top prize after a check with race officials.

Salano, a product of the University of the East athletics varsity, actually registered a chip time that was a second faster than Laido’s.  Democrito Pingol was a far Third Place at 1:25:19.

While the Men’s Division went down the wire, the Women’s Division was a walk in the park for last season’s Naga City champion Macrose Dichoso who won comfortably in 1:37:28.  Coming in at Second Place was Arlene Pangilinan (2:00:54) followed by Rose Ann Valencia (2:03:11) but their times were not enough to earn spots in the National Finals set for December 4 in Iloilo City.

The MILO Marathon will conduct its final leg in Luzon this Sunday (August 28) in Naga City.  The group will then take a break before starting its swing of the Visayas on September 18 in Tagbilaran City.

Other Winners: Ardy Malimata and Ana Jean Tamayo (10 kilometers), Neil Jhon Pasco and Rica Moreno (five kilometers) and John Leo Balleras and Fiona Maurice Pantinople (three kilometers).
