A NEW chapter in the career of NBA All-Star Derrick Rose begins this coming season as he suits up for the New York Knicks. His move to the Big Apple comes after eight seasons with his hometown Chicago Bulls, the same franchise that made him the first overall pick in the 2008 Rookie Draft.
While he has yet to suit up in a game for his new team, Rose and adidas are set to unveil the D Rose 7, the latest in his own signature line. The latest edition pays tribute to Chicago and Rose’s own rise from the trials that have beset him over the last five years.
After becoming the NBA’s youngest Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2011, it has been all downhill as injury after injury limited him to 166 regular season games, including sitting out the entire 2012-2013 campaign. In the just concluded season, Rose averaged 16.4 points per game, the lowest since his rookie season as the Bulls missed the playoffs with a 42-40 win-loss card.
The design of the D Rose 7 draws images from the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 that devastated a big portion of the city. The Windy City’s tale of reconstruction is an inspiring story in itself.
The four stars of the city flag can be found on heel cage while BOOST and Primeknit technologies ensure top cushioning and fit. A herringbone pattern on the sole inspired by smoke delivers optimum grip on the floor for one of the NBA’s fastest and most explosive players.
Rose was traded to the Knicks along with guard Justin Holiday and a 2017 second round pick for guards Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant and center Robin Lopez last June 22. The change of scenery should hopefully perk up Rose’s career that carries averages of 19.7 points and 6.2 assists.
Solar Red will be the first of several colorways that will be made available in the Philippines starting on August 11 with a suggested retail price of PHP 7,995.00 at adidas stores. Other coming colorways are Smoke Gray, Hydration, Black/White/Red and White/Black/Red.
