RTU Chessers Sweep NAASCU

NAASCU on Facebook     QUEZON CITY – Rizal Technological University scored another double championship recently after the completion of the Chess tournaments of the 15th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) at the New Era University campus. Making the achievement bigger was the seven-match sweep of the Blue Thunder to run away with Men’s Division trophy.

Coming in tied at Second Place with five wins and two losses were Saint Clare College of Caloocan and host NEU. However, the tiebreaker favored the Saints and relegated the Hunters to Third Place.

In the distaff side, the Lady Thunder nearly matched the clean sweep of the Men had not they drawn one match. Still, their three wins and a draw was enough to take home the championship.

Our Lady of Fatima University finished in Second Place with two wins and two draws. City University of Pasay completed the podium with two wins, a draw and a loss.

Also sending entries to the tournament were Philippine Christian University, Centro Escolar University and guest team Philippine Merchant Marine School. The 15th NAASCU Chess Tournament was handled by Chief Arbiter Alexander E. Dinoy and Arbiter Alvin B. Yen.
