ASPIRING YOUNG athletes will have more options this year as the MILO Summer Sports Clinics will introduce three new disciplines – Fencing, Golf and Triathlon. This raises to 17 the total number of disciplines offered.
Of course, the traditionally popular clinics in Basketball and Swimming are again expected to generate the biggest enrolment. Other clinics will offer classes in Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Bowling, Ice Skating, Gymnastics, Chess, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Karate-Do, Taekwondo and Touch Rugby.
MILO has made sure that only qualified coaches and instructors will handle the clinics in line with their “Building Champions” campaign. Training sessions will begin on April 4 and run until May 31, 2016.
After graduation from the summer clinics, students can immediately test their newfound skills by representing their schools in the MILO Little Olympics. This year, Arnis and Karate-Do will be played as demonstration sports alongside the regular disciplines of Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Chess, Scrabble, Sepak Takraw, Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, and Gymnastics.
Regional legs will be held at Cagayan de Oro on August 19, Laguna on August 26, Baguio City on September 2 and Iloilo City on September 9. The date and venue for the National Finals will be announced soon.
