Ranked Ladies Shine In Cabanatuan

Peugeot-Tennis Logo     CABANATUAN CITY – Nationally-ranked players Edilyn Balanga and Marinel Rudas grabbed the limelight in the recently concluded Cabanatuan City qualifying leg of the 2015-2016 Peugeot Philippines Tennis Open last December 6. The third leg of the series attracted top names, a welcome development with two more legs to go before the National Finals in February, 2016.

The sixth ranked Balanga defeated the seventh ranked Rudas in the Women’s Singles, 6-3 and 6-4. Hours, before their championship showdown, the duo teamed up to subdue Hanna Espinosa and Erika Manduriao in the Women’s Doubles finale, 6-3 and 7-5.

In the Men’s Singles, former De La Salle University player Alberto Villamor prevailed over Baguio City’s Jet Tangalin in come from behind fashion, 2-6, 6-3 and 6-2. The Men’s Doubles went to Vince Salas and Al Michael Madrio, victors over John Mari Altiche and Kyle Parpan, 6-3 and 7-5.

The Singles champions will get PHP 20,000.00 while the Doubles champions will get PHP 11,000.00 per player on top of trophies and gifts from Wilson and other sponsors. They will also be entitled to free transportation and lodging to compete in the Nationals.

The tournament takes a break for the holidays and will resume with the Cebu City leg from January 9 to 15, 2016. Registration is still ongoing at www.peugeottennis.ph and at all Peugeot dealerships.
