EURO-MED LABORATORIES hopes to continue the winning basketball tradition of its sister companies by joining the fledgling Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League (PCBL) that will open this October 11 (Sunday) at the Caruncho Complex beside the Pasig City Hall. Inspired by the success of the CafeFrance Bakers in the PBA D-League and the Centro Escolar University Scorpions in the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU), Euro-Med will go for a decent showing under the guidance of youthful coach Efren “Yong” Garcia.

CEU stalwarts and recent PBA draftees Samboy de Leon and Alvin Abundo will lead the charge along with CafeFrance regulars Jam Cortes, Carl Bryan Cruz, Joseph Celso and Bong Galanza. Adding firepower will be Dan Alberto, Mar Villahermosa, Ael Banal, Christian Manalo and NAASCU Mythical Five member Sandy Cenal of Rizal Technological University.

Coach Garcia, who is fresh from piloting CEU to the NAASCU Juniors championship, is also awaiting the arrival of Paul Zamar, Pari Llagas, Jopher Custodio and Adrian Santos. He will be assisted on the bench by ex-MBA pro Lito Aguilar and Alwin Manalang with Edgar Macaraya as team consultant.

Other teams seeing action in the PCBL are Santa Lucia Realty, Jumbo Plastic, Foton-Pampanga, Supremo Lex Builders-Our Lady of Fatima and sister teams Caida Tiles and Kama Trucks. Games will be played at selected venues in Metro Manila, Bulacan and Pampanga.

  1. Thomas DeGuzman says:

I am an aspiring Filipino basketball player who is very interested in trying out for an amateur commercial basketball league team or a minor league team in the Philippines.
I am a 6’1″, 190 lbs guard, with a very explosive first-step and can dunk the ball with 2 hands. I like to pass the ball and play very solid defense as well. I am full-blooded, 100% Filipino, 24-years-old (U.S.A.-born). I currently live in California, but I am traveling to Manila, Philippines this upcoming Summer (2016) to visit family.
Please let me know if there are any open tryout opportunities for me to showcase my skills, or if we can arrange an individual workout. All I need is one opportunity to showcase my abilities. My e-mail is Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
