Twin Kills for CEU, Fatima

NAASCU on Facebook     MANDALUYONG CITY – The favored squads continued their grip on the top of the standings of their respective divisions of the 15th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) basketball games Friday (September 11) at the Rizal Technological University Gym.  Centro Escolar University and Our Lady of Fatima University made it a double celebration as both their Juniors and Women’s teams scored convincing victories.

Leading by only three points at halftime, 34-31, the CEU Junior Scorpions poured it on in the third period to dispose of the New Era University Junior Hunters for their second straight win, 71-51.  The defending champion Lady Scorpions became the first team to go 2-0 as they mauled the Saint Clare College of Caloocan Lady Saints, 89-29.

The Fatima Junior Phoenix stretched their winning run to two games and gain solo Third Place after thwarting the home team Junior Thunder, 75-58. The Lady Phoenix collected their first win of the season after toying with the New Era University Huntresses, 81-21.

Meanwhile, the defending champion Saint Clare Saints matched the Junior Scorpions’ spotless win-loss record by smashing the Philippine Christian University Baby Dolphins, 73-58.  A sweep by either the Junior Saints or Junior Scorpions will entitle them to the first championship slot with the remaining squads going through a stepladder playoff in order to determine the other finalist.
