WHEN IT was first announced that Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls will have his own adidas Superstar shoe, we expected the iconic low-cut basketball shoe to carry artworks, details and colors of the NBA superstar and his team. However, it was a pleasant miscommunication.
The new shoe turned out to be a slight variation of his signature D Rose 5 Boost by adopting the Superstar’s trademark rubber shell toe as its way of paying tribute. It first glance it looks like an updated version of another popular adidas basketball shoe of the past, the Promodel, which is basically a high-cut version of the Superstar.
The upper features a luxurious snakeskin texture throughout, while the Fit Cage and laces compliment in a shade of cream. The upper sits atop a full-length Boost midsole for maximum energy return and comfort for one of the NBA’s most explosive players.
First released in 1969, the adidas Superstar is one of adidas’ all-time top sellers. The simple design has allowed the shoe to easily transition from the basketball court to everyday fashion with a rainbow of colorways and designs inspired by pop culture.
The adidas D Rose 5 Boost Superstar edition will be made available at Titan branches this February. Suggested retail price is PHP 8,495.00.
