MAKATI CITY – The Centro Escolar University Street Squad ruled the 14th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) Hip Hop Dance Showdown for the third consecutive season Tuesday afternoon (January 20) at the Makati Coliseum. CEU bested three other entries to score the rare grand slam.
The three-man panel chaired by JR David from the National Dance Championship awarded CEU 257.0 out of a possible 300.0 points. Finishing in Second Place was the New Era University Siklab Dance Troupe with 236.5 points.
Also competing was the Saint Clare College of Caloocan X-Saints and newcomer Philippine Christian University Street Dance Troupe. Since it was only a four-school field, the judges did not announce the Third Placer.
The victorious CEU Street Squad received their awards from NAASCU officials led by Secretary General Coach Jose Sanchez of Our Lady of Fatima University, Vice President Prof. Juanita P. Alamillo of CEU and Prof. Noraida La Rosa of Rizal Technological University. The annual dance competition is held as part of the opening ceremonies of the women’s and men’s volleyball tournaments.
Meanwhile, the much awaited NAASCU Cheerleading Competition will be held on March 3 (Tuesday) at the Makati Coliseum. This year’s defending champion is Our Lady of Fatima University.
