So many options for kids to spend Summer 2013 with MILO Sports Clinics.

STILL LOOKING for a worthwhile activity for the kids this summer?  MILO continues a 30-year old tradition by offering a wide array of sports clinics and encouraging the Filipino youth to take on new physical challenges while improving their overall personality.

From April to May, MILO will have centralized sports clinics in 50 cities nationwide.  This year’s clinics will feature Basketball, Badminton, Bowling, Gymnastics, Volleyball, Karate-Do, Ice Skating, Tennis, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Chess, Swimming and Football.

No less than a solid roster of expert coaches in each sports discipline has been hired to ensure the best training.  Last year, close to a total of 40,000 children joined the different camps.

“MILO has been actively supporting various sports clinics for 30 years. This summer, MILO is bringing fun to learning with the Summer Sports Clinics,” said MILO Sports Executive Andrew Q. Neri. “Our focus is on training children to reach their full potential, not just physically, but socially, mentally and emotionally as well. The clinics will encourage them to form new friendships, discover their strengths and overcome different challenges.”

The MILO Sports Clinics trace its beginnings to a simple summer swimming class in 1983.  Later, MILO entered into an agreement with Basketball Efficiency Scientific Training (BEST) Center of Coach Nic Jorge which was followed by exponential growth, adding new sports with regularity.

A lot of the alumni have gone on to make names for themselves in their chosen sport.  The BEST Center’s list alone reads like a who’s who in recent basketball history led by current MILO ambassadors Chris Tiu, Kiefer Ravena and Prince Carlos.

Taekwondo has produced multi-awarded national jin John Paul Lizardo while Volleyball has Princess Gaiser who is currently a member of the University of the Philippines varsity.  MILO is responsive to the times, adding sports which are experiencing increased popularity or renaissances like Football and Ice Skating.

Finding a worthwhile summertime activity for children is a challenge in itself for most Filipino parents. While kids spend more time in front of the computer than outside to play, they get less exposure to the wholesome cognitive and physical benefits linked with outdoor activities.

With summer just around the corner, now is a great time to engage kids in active play like sports activities, which develop life-long skills and abilities when provided with the right training, equipment and facilities. Sports also sharpen the mind and build character through values like fair play, self-control and honesty.
